Share on Twitter Share on Facebook 2 min readThe World Poker Tour (WPT) is wrapping up its stop at Montreal’s Playground. Still, they won’t rest long as they’re already gearing up for the WPT Korea, which will return to Landing Casino at Jeju Shinhwa World for the Jeju Poker Festival from November 15—December 1.
The 2,500,000 KRW (~US $1,860) buy-in WPT Korea Championship Event will run from Nov. 16-22 and boasts a 1.68 billion KRW (~US $1.25 million) guarantee. That tournament features three starting flights.
“Jeju Island is a sensational location and has become a popular stop on the WPT schedule,” said WPT CEO Adam Pliska. “Thanks to our partners at Landing Casino and Red Dragon who have spearheaded the planning to bring WPT Korea back for a second time this season.”
It marks the third WPT Korea Event in three years. Earlier this year in late March into early April, Mate Hanusi topped a 1,065-entry field to claim the title and US $322,174 in prize money.
In July 2023, Yin Tao navigated a 757-entry field to win the tournament for US $232,667, while at that same stop Steve O’Dwyer won the 170 million KRW (~US $125,000) buy-in WPT Alpha 8 One Drop Korea (18 entries) for US $1,009,520, and Daniel Merriless bested a 47-entry field to win the 17 million KRW (~US $12,500) buy-in WPT Korea High Roller for US $205,538
“Landing Casino at Jeju Shinhwa World is again honored and excited to partner with WPT in hosting the WPT Korea Championship this coming November,” said Jenny Lim, Chief Operating Officer at Landing Casino. “Poker tours in Korea are on a steady increase, and the events held at Jeju Shinhwa World with outstanding partners such as WPT add to the excitement and growth of poker in the region.”
Two other championship events highlight the Jeju Poker Festival schedule, the Korea Poker Cup (Nov. 21-26) and Red Dragon Poker Tour (Nov. 26-Dec. 1). Any player reaching the final table of two or more championship events will receive an extra prize. Prize details will be released on social media in the coming weeks.
