Each player is dealt a hand of cards to start the game, and the remaining cards are arranged in a draw pile face down on the table. To begrummy withdrawin the discard pile, the top card from the draw pile is turned face up. The top card from the discard pile or a card drawn from the draw pile can be taken by any player during their turn. Players must discard a card from their hand onto the discard pile after drawing a card.
