The no-limit hold'em tournament began with 180 entrants, but it's down to just 12 following a roller coaster marathon Day 2. The field still features the likes of defending champion Mikalai Vaskaboinikau, Triton Player of the Year leader Artur Martirosian and the current GPI World Number One Jesse Lonis.
Five of the remaining players will take home a seven-figure payday. But the champion will walk away with $3,810,000. Each player still standing has a guaranteed minimum payout of $293,000.
Matthew Belcher was the final elimination on Thursday — 13th place for $293,000. Triton Poker co-founder Richard Yong (29th for $159,000), David Peters (27th for $176,500), Patrik Antonius (24th for $176,500), and Sean Winter (23rd for $194,000) were among the numerous big name players who cashed but were eliminated on Day 2.
Place | Player | Chip Count |
---|---|---|
1 | Stephen Chidwick | 6,450,000 |
2 | Christoph Vogelsang | 6,440,000 |
3 | Jesse Lonis | 6,320,000 |
4 | Kiat Lee | 5,455,000 |
5 | Santhosh Suvarna | 5,145,000 |
6 | Fedor Holz | 4,715,000 |
7 | Artur Martirosian | 3,250,000 |
8 | Leon Sturm | 1,980,000 |
9 | Alex Foxen | 1,975,000 |
10 | Mikalai Vaskaboinikau | 1,435,000 |
11 | Ramin Hajiyev | 1,035,000 |
12 | Espen Jorstad | 810,000 |
Day 3 should go fast as the top chip stacks only have 43 big blinds. There isn't much separation between the five biggest stacks, and even the smallest stack, Espen Jorstad, who has just five big blinds, could spin it up to the chip lead quickly if things break his way early in the session.
Other notables in contention include Triton POY leader Artur Martirosian and 2024 Triton Montenegro Main Event champion Mikalai Vaskaboinikau.
The winner of this six-figure buy-in tournament will have to run hot on all ins and play sound short stack poker. Chidwick will have an advantage over the other big stacks in that he'll only be seated among the short stacks. All other big stacks will start at the other table. If he's successful in pushing around the small stacks, he'll be tough to beat when the final table approaches.
