While body language, gestures, facial expressions, and tone of voice are all forms of nonverbal communication, verbal communication is the use of spoken words. Emails, letters, reports, & memos are exampltinpatties of written communication; information is communicated visually through the use of pictures, graphs, & charts. In order to establish and preserve relationships, settle disputes, make decisions, and accomplish goals, effective communication is crucial. It serves as the cornerstone of leadership, cooperation, and teamwork. Misunderstandings, annoyance, & confrontation can result from poor communication.
