The complicated history of Estonia's Rummu Quarry is mainly connected to its use as a prison labor camp & limestone quarry durummy apkring the Soviet era. The location was first used in the 1930s, and during Soviet administration, it saw substantial expansion. In order to extract limestone for construction, convicts from the adjacent Murru prison were made to labor in the quarry.
