A run comprises three or more consecutive cards of the same suit, whereas a set comprises three or four cards of the same rank but different suits. For instance, 4♠, 5♠, & 6♠ could be a run, & 7♣, 7♦, and 7♥ could be a set. In order to form these combinations and improve their hands, players alternately draw cards from the discard pile or the stockpile.
