Three or four cards of the same rank but different suits make up a set, whereas three or more cards of the same suit in a row make up a run. In order to make these combinations and strapragmatic slots freetegically discard cards that could help their opponents, players alternately draw cards from the stockpile or the discard pile. Depending on the established rules, each player is dealt a certain number of cards at the start of the game, typically seven or ten. The discard pile is started by placing the top card face-up, while the remaining cards make up the stockpile.
