Share on Twitter Share on Facebook 2 min readThe $200,000 Triton Invitational has hit new heights, with a record field as part of the Triton Super High Roller Series Montenegro festival.
The event had initially attracted 96 players, comprised of 48 pairings. Each of these pairs consisted of a VIP invitee who was allowed to offer an entry to a professional poker player. The two groups played separately on Day 1, and after late registration closed at the start of Day 2, the event had grown to 133 entries — a record for a Triton Invitational.
The last Triton Invitational took place in November 2024 in Monte-Carlo, where Patrik Antonius triumphed over fan favorite Vladimir Korzinin (pictured) in a thrilling heads-up battle to claim the $6.1 million top prize, besting a 101-entry field.
Since the record-breaking turnout at Triton Jeju earlier this year - where both the $25,000 and $100,000 buy-in events drew unprecedented numbers - expectations for a bigger Montenegro Invitational have been mounting. Now, that anticipation is being realized.
With a lengthy Day 2 underway, the field remains stacked with big names. Leading the charge is Artur Martirosian, the current frontrunner in the Triton Season 4 Player of the Year race, who sits atop the chip counts midway through the day.
Martirosian has a healthy lead over Alex Foxen and Mario Mosboeck in the POY standings, bolstered by a third-place finish worth $2,644,000 in the Triton Jeju Main Event in March.
Also enjoying a strong start is American pro Seth Davies, who sits with over 100 big blinds. Davies recently captured his first Triton title earlier in the festival—his 37th Triton cash.
Among the roughly 50 players still in contention are high-stakes legends Phil Ivey, Bryn Kenney, Kristen Foxen, and Stephen Chidwick, all looking to make deep runs in Montenegro.
The payouts have also been confirmed, with just 23 places paid.
